Biography

Salma lives in San Juan Sacatepéquez with her mother and sister. They share a single room made of cement blocks which is being lent to them by Salma’s grandparents. Salma’s mother is a cleaner and earns around Q600 ($80) a month. Salma’s father does not live with them but sends Q1000 ($133) a month. Salma spent almost 6 months in Casa Jackson in 2022 with her younger sister. She has been diagnosed with Marfan syndrome and will potentially need more support in the future with medical procedures. This year, Salma is in preschool. Salma’s favourite colour is red and her favourite food is spaghetti. Her favourite animals are lions. In her free time she likes to play restaurants. When she is older, Salma would like to be a doctor. Her favourite thing to do in school is art and her goal for this year is to pass her classes. If she could have any superpower, Salma would have the power to fly. If she had $1 million, Salma would buy a car, a house and lots of toys.
